Hi, I’m Karen Ruscoe, a hairdresser with over 28 years experience in the hair industry.
My story began in New Zealand at the tender age of 16 when I took up an apprenticeship and training in Christchurch to become a hairdresser. After working in a number of salons I became the owner of a salon at 21 – “Hot Gossip” – it was the 90’s! After selling that salon I worked in another salon in Christchurch as a stylist.
In 2003 an opportunity came my way where I moved away from the salon environment. I started with Wella Professionals in a role that took me all over the South Island of New Zealand. My role was technical educator – I taught the hairdresser all the technical (colour and product) aspects of hairdressing. This was a role that ultimately led me to Australia in 2006 when Wella asked me to come and educate a global salon group who had converted to using Wella products. This was a nationwide role that saw me travelling countrywide conducting workshops and shows.
I loved the role but I missed the personal contact that comes with working with you, the client on a day to day basis. So in 2009 I moved back into the salon environment as a senior stylist and have thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with you.
The next step in my career is about creating a more personal service where the clients wishes are paramount. Being a mobile hairdresser allows me to work one on one with you to help fulfill those wishes
